Mending Broken Hearts - A Christmas Edition

As the Christmas season is fast approaching and 2023 is closing to an end (I am not sad about it!), here is a story to mend broken hearts, a Christmas blessing of sorts. They say that animals, especially dogs, can read humans better than we can. They smell our fear, can know if we are sick before we do and can also sense when hearts have been saddened. Unfortunately, they too have these experiences and are in need of our help.

November. For most people, it is the worst month of the year. It is cold and rainy. Days are getting shorter and the month basically feels like the boring interlude between the wonderful colours of fall in October and the wonderful magic of Christmas. I would feel the same way if it was not for my birthday at the end of the dreary month. But this year, November was even more gloomy than usual.

A Fresh Start

Despite all my good intentions this year, I haven’t managed to keep up with the  writing and posting of my blog, as I had hoped.  So much has happened since my last post that it is hard to know where to start; perhaps, I need to start with some of the bad parts.

La vie en rose

Last winter, after an unplanned pause from work, I had the ambition to write more frequently on this blog.  As you can see, this did not pan out exactly as planned.  I have so much to say as the last few months have been busy with many good things happening in my life. My return to work in February did not go as well as I had planned or hoped but I managed to push through.  There is a story to be told, and perhaps at some point, it will make for a good blog post.

When life gives you lemons...

 I don’t know how the beginning of 2023 has been for you, but for me, it has been most interesting and eventful on so many levels.  I started the year sick, which meant having to cancel my new year’s plans, after I caught a virus from my dogs… yes, your loveable pets can actually make you sick.  They won’t admit it and there is no proof but I know!  Since then, it has been a litany of adventures, both good and bad, full of lessons and adventures.  Here are just a few since January:    - It is always good to get pet insurance, because when your dog or cat falls ill, you can say goodbye to your nest egg...
